Two New Board Members Join Almost Home
Please welcome our newest Board of Directors for Almost Home, Tom Skerjanec and Andrea Wieland. We are thrilled to have such an amazing group of talented individuals join our organization to help lead us into our 26th year as a nonprofit in Brighton. With their valuable ideas and input, we are sure to have an amazing future that continues to bring help to the most at risk of housing instability in our community.
Tom Skerjanec is a Colorado native, raised in Boulder, moving to Brighton in 2001. Tom attended Colorado State University and the University of Denver. He works for a large software company in the engineering group. He has two children who live close by and recently became a grandparent. Tom loves spending time with his family, enjoying all the outdoor recreation that Colorado has to offer. After a mission trip with his daughter many years ago, Tom’s eyes were opened to those less fortunate and their need for basics. Since then, Tom and his family have worked with Catholic Charities to help those less fortunate during the holiday seasons, however, once a year is not enough and the reason why Tom has joined Almost Home to assist those in need year-round.
Andrea Wieland is a Colorado native, raised in Boulder, Colorado. Growing up the daughter of a University Nursing Professor and a Draftsman, who attended a liberal church dedicated to community service and human rights. She studied at the University of Northern Colorado in Psychology and Women’s studies, and worked for several years at the Bank of Boulder before attending graduate school in California to get her M.S. Counseling and Student Development. She currently works at Front Range Community College in Westminster and serves on the board of directors for LIFE Board with Unison Housing Partners. Andrea and her husband Kevin have lived in Brighton for 5 years with their daughter and are thrilled to be a part of the Brighton community. She is excited to serve on a board that works in her community in helping community members that are experiencing housing instability.
