Volunteerism is one of the best ways to directly impact and improve your community while learning essential personal development skills.  Whether it’s for school credit, mandated service, or personal fulfillment, we hope that serving through our Volunteer Program will ignite a life-long passion for community service.  As well as teach you valuable qualities applicable to today’s job market.  Establish a sense of purpose by supporting homeless families and individuals today!

Our Volunteers sign-in at our primary headquarters: 22 S. 4th Ave, Ste. 106 Brighton, CO 80601.  However, we also offer shifts at our Family Emergency Shelter and at our SWAP Activation Site.  Please read the description of your shift for location details before signing up.

  • All volunteers must complete the "Volunteer Participation Waiver and Release of Liability" form before their first volunteer shift

  • Almost Home, Inc. accepts volunteers ages 12 and older.  Volunteers 12-17 may volunteer independently without a parent or guardian as long as they provide a signed "Volunteer Parental Release" form prior to or upon their first day of service.

  • All volunteers must complete the appropriate onboarding trainings

  • Volunteers must comply with the the Volunteer Handbook; including but not limited to our COVID-19 Policy.

  • Volunteers must wear clothing that is weather and professionally appropriate; all Shelter and Outreach shifts require close toed shoes at all times.

COVID-19 Policy:

In compliance with CDC guidelines, we will require those volunteers interacting directly with our clients or event attendees to wear a face covering due to the increased rates of viral and bacterial infections and diseases within homeless households and communities.  Please stay home if you are feeling unwell, we will be checking temperatures upon check-in, especially for our indoor shifts.  Help keep yourself and our staff safe!

Flexible Individual/Family Volunteers

Flexible Volunteers are individuals or accompanied minors needing to complete hours for personal fulfillment, educational, religious or extra-curricular activities.  Typically at a one-time event or for a handful of shifts at one site.  Consistent Volunteers become apart of our WorkForce in respect to their dedication to our organization.  Visit the WorkForce page to learn more.

Group Volunteers

Group volunteerism occurs when you and your church, company, community organization, or group of friends would like to volunteer.  A group is 4+ individuals, 3 or less must sign up individually.  This is a great way to serve your community while building camaraderie and lasting memories.

Court Mandated Community Service

Volunteers needing to complete court mandated service hours as a part of their parole or conviction are more than welcome to complete those hours at Almost Home, Inc.  Visit our WorkForce page for more information about WorkForce shifts, hours, and restrictions.

Volunteering from Home:

If you are unable to comply with our policies and guidelines, are not able to volunteer in person, or are practicing social distancing as per CDC recommendations, we have opportunities for you!  Support Almost Home, Inc. by making a meals and more!  We believe this is a great way for individuals to still serve the community, but through the comfort of their own home.
